War Victim

Like day to night my reality came
A true U.S. Soldier shows no shame
Being a tough guy and fighting for freedom
I really miss women, but claim I don't em'

I came back from the war to my home town
But war ended years ago, now I feel like a clown
My face painted happy, hiding pain that I feel
The war is inside me, denying what's real

I am a Marine, one of few, the elite
Yet a victim of myself, I bow at my feet
Believing my own lies, I worship my name
Praise to the war vet, or burn in the flame

When I look in the mirror, I feel so superior
I seem perfect on the outside, but my mind is inferior
I struggle and fight, but cannot rise above
If I wouldn't have enlisted, I'd be able to love

Great work, all respect!
You describe it as if you feel it yourself... As 'War victim' I had long considered how to comment on this poem. I prefer to share this link:

... No idea which movie clips are in this video, but it should be done in Afghanistan (the area indicated on this place inside the ass of this planet)
