Part 22

I luckily made it through the summer without getting arrested and was kind of relieved when Frank took me south again. Myself and Frank were pretty much finished at this stage but to his credit he was still supporting me but I could see the pity or perhaps it was disgust in his eyes when he looked at me as although he liked me to dress up and act like a hooker he obviously didn't actually want to be with a real one. He didn't stay with me that year instead he pressed a couple of hundred euros into my hand and left without a word, the message clearly being that we had reached the end of the road.
Very strangely despite having cash I know that a couple of hours after Frank left that I was back walking my usual patch, I don't honestly remember what my thought process was and why I did it but that is what I ended up doing.

For a few months I settled back into the balancing act of college/heroin/funding but it all came crashing to an end when in the late November I got a phone call I had secretly been dreading for some time.
I was actually in a car with a client when I felt the vibration of my phone ringer, I knew something was wrong when it continued go off after ringing out a couple of times, I got out as soon as the guy was finished with me and checked to see about 50 missed calls from Noreen, I called back and right away and got an almost hysterical Noreen on the phone, through the crying and the howling I worked out that my Grandad had taken a turn and that I needed to get home right away.
Having nobody else to turn to I called Frank and to his credit he got into his car and drove the near 5 hours to me,
I however while i waited decided to have a little hit to calm me down but the gear I had got was way stronger than the stuff I was used to so by the time Frank arrived I was still u*********s on the bed dressed in my working clothes.
I didn't come too till after Galway and I must have looked a right mess when I arrived home to be told I was too late and that my Grandad had died a few hours earlier.
I went over to his house and cried for hours with Noreen.
The next few days leading up to the funeral were a complete blur and rather shamefully I spent most of it totally wasted, I also had a self righteous falling out with Noreen when she confirmed what I had long suspected that she had been sleeping with my Grandad for years.
Myself and Noreen had at least made up by the time my mother pulled me aside and told me it was perhaps time I started thinking about heading back to college.
Initially I ignored her but the following Saturday night myself and Johnny were on a job when the Police caught Johnny. I had luckily seen them coming and had manage to hide in the hay barn of the house that Johnny had broken into.
If it had just been any ordinary house that would have been that but the house that was broken into belonged to our old farming neighbours and we had done it when I knew they would all be at mass.
When my Mother found out she went absolutely ballistic as although I had not been caught she knew full well I was involved, when I tried to plead my innocence she lost it completely and lunged at me where she ripped chunks of my hair out and punched and scratched my face before she was pulled off by my father and brother.
When she had calmed down she informed me that that was that and I was to gather my things, leave and never come back.
The following morning I took the bus back to Limerick with as much of my belongings as i could carry and to this day I have never returned to the house.
Once back in Limerick I attended half a day at college before deciding to hell with that and heading back to the apartment to get wasted and college then became the second thing I never returned to in as many days.
