Although lesbians are much more out and open than in previous generations, there are still a lot of misconceptions. That's natural, and lesbians shouldn't be offended by them. When you are not part of something or around it much, misconceptions are bound to arise. The good news is that ignorance can be .educated.  These five myths about lesbians seem to be the most common.




Porn is entertainment, not sex education. From porn, you would assume that strap-on sex and scissoring is just about all that lesbians do after they'e kissed a few times, but actually those are down the list of favorite lesbian sex activties. Although it certainly can get wild, lesbian sex tends to be slower, more sensual, and more intimate than it is portrayed in lesbian porn. Real lesbian sex probably would be boring to watch, especially for men, so that's why porn portrays it as they do.





Sex involves touching that leads to sexual arousal. That includes everything from kissing to stroking to penetration. For those who insist that penetration has to be included, lesbians can do that with dildos, which can be better than a penis since they can be of any size and are always hard. When it comes to orgasms, lesbian sex is actually more real than straight sex for women: Lesbians have more orgasms than straight women. Only about one in four women have orgasm from penis – in-vagina sex anyway, so a penis is obviously not essential to sex.
